The Numbers You Need

1040s, W2s, 1099s, 1095s, Schedule C…the dreaded alphabet soup of tax time is approaching.

Filing taxes doesn’t have to be stressful. You just need a little preparation and patience. As the IRS states, “year-round tax planning is for everyone.” The most important part of tax planning is recordkeeping. Remember to gather documents and keep them organized.

  • Identify all your sources of income (separate your business and personal)

    • Wage & Earning Statements

    • Interest & Dividend Statements

    • Records of Virtual Currency Transactions

    • Alimony

    • Rental Property Income

    • State or local tax refunds

  • Identify expenses for which can be claimed as a deduction

    • Education Costs

    • Childcare costs

    • Charitable donations

    • Qualified business expenses

    • Home office expenses
